3Sixty Global Solutions Group (3Sixty GSG) is proud to announce that it has acquired Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology (CDE), South Africa's leading provider of diabetes and hypertension management solutions, founded in 1994.
The acquisition, which was completed in a cash transaction, underscores 3Sixty GSG's commitment to expanding its portfolio in the healthcare sector, particularly in the fight against lifestyle-related diseases such as diabetes and hypertension. The prevalence of these conditions is increasing dramatically across South Africa.
With more than 30 years of pioneering work in the treatment of diabetes and hypertension, CDE has established itself as a beacon of hope and support for people living with diabetes. By promoting a community-centred model of care, CDE will significantly improve the health and lives of many South Africans living with diabetes and high blood pressure, empowering doctors, nurses, dietitians, podiatrists, pharmacists, healthcare professionals and others. CDE has invested in the development of an ophthalmoscopy camera for non-invasive diagnostics, taking diabetes and hypertension management to the next level.
The camera can detect 27 diseases from eye images. CDE has expanded its services to include renal dialysis, ophthalmology, and pathology to complete its service delivery to the health system and its members.
The acquisition by 3Sixty GSG, an integrated healthcare solutions group with a diverse portfolio in innovative medicines and medical aid management, demonstrates the shared vision of both organizations in championing the concept of “Ubuntu Medicine.” It's proof.
Executive Chairman of 3Sixty GSG. 3Sixty GSG Group CEO Kandani Msibi and Dr Osborne Manajana will join Dr Grant Newton (PhD) on his CDE board. The company has also appointed experienced certified public accountant Sakire Masuku as CFO, effective April 1, 2024, and Sakire will also join CDE's board of directors.
This acquisition not only strengthens 3Sixty GSG's position as a strong black-owned healthcare and biotech company, but also provides an important platform to fight diseases such as diabetes that have a significant impact on communities across South Africa and beyond. This is consistent with the company's growth strategy of establishing a solution group.
Msibi said: “We are excited to welcome CDE to the 3Sixty GSG family. By integrating our outstanding diabetes and hypertension management programs with our diverse medical services, we will make a significant impact on the health and well-being of South Africans. We are ready. Together, we will advance our mission to provide accessible, comprehensive care and be at the forefront of the fight against lifestyle diseases in South Africa and beyond.
“There are strong synergies between 3Sixty Health’s health system management and managed care businesses and our biotechnology business. It synergizes well with 3Sixty Health's managed care capabilities as well as potential distribution channels to market through our online pharmacy and clinical trial capabilities for kidney dialysis, fundoscopy cameras, etc. We believe that we can give scale to innovations and expose the use of their innovations to broader target and non-target markets.
The prevalence of diabetes and hypertension has risen alarmingly from just over 4% in 2010 to around 12% today, with more than half of the cases undiagnosed, making it difficult to develop innovative and effective medical solutions. The urgent need is highlighted. This partnership aims to address this need head-on, supporting health systems and states on the front lines of the fight against diabetes and hypertension, and providing comprehensive care and support to those affected. .
For more than 30 years, CDE has pioneered and expanded its offerings in providing comprehensive, person-centered diabetes and hypertension care. This acquisition promises to further strengthen the company's tradition of ensuring quality diabetes and hypertension care is available to all South Africans and establishing new benchmarks in diabetes management around the world.
Mr Newton said: “Our partnership with 3Sixty Global Solutions Group is a pivotal moment for us. This is a union of two organizations that share a deep commitment to medical excellence and innovation. With the support of 3Sixty GSG, we We look forward to expanding our reach, strengthening our services, and furthering our vision to provide the highest level of interdisciplinary diabetes care.
