Western Cape police are searching for the gunman who killed five people and injured four others in a gang-related shooting in Muizenberg over the weekend.
Police spokesman Lt. Col. Malcolm Posier said detectives are investigating the circumstances of at least four different shootings.
In the first incident, the bodies of a 15-year-old boy, an 18-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman were discovered on Drakensberg Road in Hillview, Muizenberg, early Saturday morning.
“Muizenberg SAPS members dispersed to the scene at around 5.45am following reports from local residents. Members found three bodies who had died from multiple gunshot wounds to the head.”
“They were pronounced dead by medical personnel who attended the scene,” Posier said.
Hours later, another 15-year-old boy was killed and a man injured on Woodpecker Street just after 2:30 p.m.
”[The] The injured man was taken privately to the hospital. Charges of murder and attempted murder will be investigated,” Poyet added.

Police said it appears an armed group opened fire on a group of people on St. Patrick's Street, injuring three men.
“Three people [men] was also personally taken to the hospital. Further investigation into the three attempted murder charges will be launched,” Poyet added.
He said a 47-year-old man was found dead in Hillview Heights, Muizenberg, just after 11pm.
“According to the charges, an unknown suspect knocked on his door and when he opened the door, he was shot multiple times in the back. He died of the gunshot wounds at the scene.”
No arrests have been made and the motive remains part of an ongoing investigation, police said.
Ashwin Abrahams, acting chairman of the Muizenberg Local Police Forum, said the area was “unstable” and people, especially those walking to school or using public transport, were living in fear. Stated.
“The area has been relatively quiet for the past few months, and then all of a sudden gangs come in and start shooting and causing mayhem in the area,” he said, adding that Junkie Funky Kids (JFK) and flakka Gangs competed with each other for drugs, money, ammunition, territory, and leadership.

Meanwhile, police on Friday welcomed the long prison sentences handed down in the Western Cape High Court for three key figures in the flakka gang for various crimes in Muizenberg.
Detectives from the Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) registered and launched a major investigation into the flakka gang and suspected gang leader Jamiel Jacobs, also known as 'Challa', in 2019, police said. .
“The investigation was aimed at quelling the gang violence that was ongoing in the Muizenberg area at the time.”
“This gang group was violent in nature, randomly shooting and killing several rival gang members, and trading goods such as drugs and firearms,” Posier said.
AGU detectives tracked Jacobs to Pearl, where he was hiding in a security facility, where they tracked him down and arrested him.
Jacobs and two others were sentenced Friday.

Co-accused Simone Gordon was sentenced to 10 years in prison for two counts of drug trafficking, suspended for five years, and an additional 10 years in prison.
A third defendant, Dillon Walker, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for drug trafficking.
Provincial Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembisile Patekiru praised investigators and detectives.
“Mr. Jacobs' long sentence will serve as a deterrent to those involved in gang activity in this state,” he said.
