I did not do it We think you'll also like the Nubia Z60 Ultra. This is a big, chunky slab from a little-known Chinese manufacturer packed with high-end specs at a relatively affordable price. To get cutting-edge hardware without breaking the bank, it's common to sacrifice software. Sure enough, Nubia's unimaginatively named MyOS adds little to Android 14, but the Z60 Ultra confounded my expectations in another way.
Absolutely free of bloatware, the Nubia Z60 Ultra has a vast screen that's unencumbered by the camera cutout (there's one below the display). Performance is near perfect, with the flagship processor providing plenty of performance under the hood. But what really grabbed me was the versatile triple-lens camera. Although a little inconsistent, using his cell phone he was able to take some nice photos after a week.
The Nubia Z60 Ultra has a design that may turn some people off, but I really enjoy using it. You can criticize it, and I'll take it, but if you're looking for something different and gaming and photography are your priorities, the Nubia Z60 Ultra is worth a look.
bold brick
Nubia was originally a subsidiary of the ZTE brand, but became an independent company in 2015. (His PR team at Nubia specifically mentioned that his two are separate companies). Nubia's gaming sub-brand RedMagic is impressively powerful, aggressively priced, and a bit unsophisticated. Gaming phones have become popular over the past few years, and the Z60 Ultra has something to do with it.
When I took the Nubia Z60 Ultra out of the box, I was shocked by its weight. This phone weighs 246 grams. For comparison, Apple's largest phone, the iPhone 15 Pro Max (8/10, WIRED Recommends), weighs 221 grams. The Z60 Ultra is a rectangular slab with a matte black or silver finish. My black review unit has an aluminum frame with textured glass on the back and a prominent camera module. The bold design also features glossy red metallic highlights around the main lens and a textured power button. There's a volume rocker above the power button, and below there's a handy slide switch to quickly launch the camera, but you can use it for another shortcut. The SIM card tray and USB-C port are on the bottom edge. The Z60 Ultra is thick enough that it's easy to balance on the sides and edges.
