South African batsman and captain Aiden Markram scored a one-handed blinder for Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the SA20 qualifier against Durban Super Giants at Newlands on Tuesday.
Sunrisers destroyed the Supergiants' top order in Cape Town after adding 158 runs to victory over the visitors against KwaZulu-Natal under lights.
Ottniel Baartman, who joined the attack in the third over, delivered an instant blow to the defending champions with a sensational two-wicket maiden over.
Bartman took the lead and brought Jon Jon Smuts to the crease, beating leadoff pitcher Matthew Blitzke by three strokes.
And then it happened.
Smuts lasted only four balls before pulling Bartman to mid-on, making clean contact on a ball that looked headed for a boundary.
However, Markram had other ideas, and when the ball stopped, he jumped into the air and extended his right hand over his left shoulder, making it arguably one of the most amazing catches ever seen.
Smuts ran back to the changing room for a duck in disbelief as the Newlands crowd watched multiple replays on the stadium's big screen.
Bartman finished with 4/10 from four overs in a man-of-the-match performance. All-rounder Marco Jansen was also excellent with the ball, taking four 4/16 in 3.3 overs.
Sunrisers are on track to defend their SA20 title with a place in Saturday's final at Newlands.
Meanwhile, Durban's Super Giants will have a second chance to qualify for the final when they face the winner of Pearl Royals vs. Joburg Super Kings.
