An anonymous reader cites the MacRumors report. The Apple Music, Apple TV, and Apple Devices apps that Apple has been testing for Windows machines are officially released, ending a long preview period and ending the iTunes app on some computers. The Apple Music, Apple TV, and Apple Devices apps are part of Apple's effort to split iTunes on the PC into multiple platforms to mirror how these apps work on the Mac. Starting with Windows 10, PC customers can download three separate apps to manage their devices and access content from Apple Music and Apple TV. Microsoft first announced plans to offer Apple Music and Apple TV apps for the Microsoft Store in October 2022, so the separation from iTunes has been in the works for more than a year.
The Apple Music app lets Windows users listen to and manage music in their iTunes library, including purchases from the iTunes Store, and the Apple TV app lets Windows users watch and manage movies and TV shows from iTunes. You can do that. Both apps provide access to Apple's streaming services, Apple Music and Apple TV+. The Apple Devices app is designed to help a PC owner update, backup, restore and manage her iPhone and iPad, and sync content from her PC. The standalone app requires Windows 10 or later, and all three apps must be installed to migrate from iTunes. After you add the app to your PC, iTunes will only be used to access your podcasts and audiobooks. Your iTunes library is used by the Apple Music and Apple TV apps, so don't delete it.
