Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) general secretary Marshall Dlamini said the party wanted to ensure that people in KwaZulu-Natal had access to basic services.
The state is facing a water crisis and high unemployment, and many communities have accused the government of human rights abuses.
Speaking ahead of the launch of the EFF's 2024 election manifesto at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, Mr Dlamini said the party sought to address all these challenges facing the people of KZN.
he says: “There are many rural towns, but only one metro. Municipalities, most of which are rural and have no access to education. We talk about job opportunities and industrialization, but there is no development. .”
“There is no direction because the leaders currently leading the province have no idea what is going on. Young people in KZN want to move here because it has potential and is a rich province. “We don't want to, but we say we need decisive leadership to take KZN to its rightful place as one of the country's economic hubs.”
Lack of service provision
Some EFF supporters who attended the party's manifesto launch cited a lack of service provision in their areas as a reason for wanting the EFF to form a government.
They say poor roads, water shortages and high unemployment are among the issues they want the EFF to prioritize if given the chance to govern.
“We have a problem with inadequate infrastructure and not enough schools in our area,” said one supporter.
Another says: “We are here for the EFF Manifesto. We all know the challenges we face as a community, particularly with offloading and water scarcity. Because we are here, we want everyone to see that the EFF is fighting for the world: Black freedom.”
