Men's marathon world record holder Kelvin Kiptum has died at the age of 24 in a traffic accident in Kenya.
Kiptum and Rwanda coach Garve Hakizimana confirmed killed in collision Abbott World Marathon Majors and Elgeyo Marakwet Police.

Kenyan great athlete Kipchoge, whose marathon record Kiptum broke in Chicago, paid tribute to his compatriot.
“I am deeply saddened by the tragic death of marathon world record holder and rising star Kelvin Kiptum,” Kipchoge said in a social media post.
“An athlete who waited his entire life to achieve incredible greatness. My deepest condolences to his young family.”
Police added that Kiptum was the driver and the car “lost control and overturned, killing both people on the spot.” According to AFP news agency, a third passenger, a woman, was injured.
