Zendaya stunned in a silver cyborg suit at the Dune: Part 2 world premiere in London on Thursday.
LONDON — LONDON (AP) — Zendaya is getting into fashion in a Cyborg “Dune: Part 2” way.
The co-star of the long-awaited film sequel wowed on the sand-strewn carpet at Thursday's world premiere in a silver robot suit taken from the Mugler archives. The shoes are from the French fashion house's Fall/Winter 1995 Cirque d'Hiver 20th anniversary collection, the company said in a statement.
It stands for “Winter Circus” and is similar to the fanfare surrounding the March 1 release of Denis Villeneuve's second half of the sci-fi blockbuster.
Zendaya's body-hugging armor outfit with sheer plexiglass inserts incorporates gloves and is paired with matching silver heels. In an email detailing the vintage look, Mugler gave a special thank you to stylist Law Roach. Her runway version included a matching headpiece, but Zendaya opted for a short, sleek hairstyle and a Bulgari blue diamond necklace.
She was joined on the carpet by fellow stars Timothée Chalamet, Josh Brolin and Rebecca Ferguson, as well as new cast members Austin Butler, Florence Pugh and Villeneuve.
The new movie will pick up where 2021's Dune left off. Chalamet's Paul Atreides teams up with Chani and the Fremen, played by Zendaya, to exact revenge on those who killed his family. Pugh, a new addition to the Dune universe as the Emperor's daughter, will play Princess Irulan alongside Austin Butler, who plays Fayed-Rauta.
Stellan Skarsgard, Christopher Walken, Charlotte Rampling, and Javier Bardem round out the cast.
