Leeds' first try came from Salford full-back Ryan Brierley, who fired high into the sin bin.
Snyde tested Roberts again and the youngster held firm, starting Leeds' counterattack. As a result, Hundley outplayed the Salford defense and broke through his own 10 meter line to equalize.
Slack Leeds' defense put the visitors ahead at half-time with Partington coming over from his half-back role to concede Salford's first try.
Leeds increased the pressure after the break and as Salford's penalty count mounted, Hundley converted a clean kick from Martin Glover to equalize for the third time.
Salford refused to give in and when Leeds debutant Paul Momirovski was guilty of a dangerous tackle on Chris Atkin, Snyde kicked Salford forward for the final time.
At the other end, Amir Boulou was charged with delaying play-the-ball and Martin took a penalty kick, but Risonne's strength settled the rest.
Rhinos head coach Rohan Smith told BBC Radio Leeds:
“I was really proud of the players and the effort they put in to get to this point.
“We played tough and at times played a little bit soccer-like. I really liked that calmness and composure. Not everything went to plan, but they had fun fighting together. It looked like there was.”
“It felt like a two-hour game. There were a lot of really long stops. I wish they hadn't stopped the game for the players to practice.
“This just ruins the atmosphere. If you're watching it at home, you can make yourself another cup of tea.”
Salford coach Paul Lawrie:
“Nene [Macdonald] He was in the hospital with his son all day and had no intention of playing.
“His son was really sick, so I'm really happy to have him home healthy. It's been a really good change for him to step up and be a team player.”
“I don't think there was much going on in the game. We didn't hang in there and we were comfortable controlling the game for a good part of it. I'm proud of our players.”
