The Indian men's team lost 3-0 to third-seeded South Korea in the third group match of the World Team Table Tennis Championships held in Busan on February 19, suffering its second consecutive loss.
Meanwhile, the Indian women's team defeated Uzbekistan 3-0 in Group 1 for their second consecutive win.
Veteran Sharath Kamal, reigning national champion Harmeet Desai and G. Sathyan suffered a crushing defeat in the third match of the group stage against third-seeded South Korea, each losing a single.
Harmeet, 67 and India's top-ranked player, lost 4-11, 10-12, 8-11 to world No. 14 Jang Woo-jin.
Sathyan was then pushed aside by world No. 16 Lim Jong-hoon 5-11, 7-11, 7-11, leaving India with a 0-2 lead.
Sharath managed to resist and take the second game, but was unable to capitalize on his momentum and lost to Lee Sang-soo 9-11, 11-8, 6-11, 5-11, allowing a draw.
After winning the first match against Chile, the Indian team lost to Poland 1-3. However, despite the two losses, India remains second in Group 3 behind South Korea.
