Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi said his province was winning the fight against illegal mining. Lesufi said in his State of Gauteng address at the Nasrec Expo Center south of Johannesburg that the deployment of about 800 soldiers was destabilizing illegal mining in different parts of the province. .
“We crushed the roots of Zama Zama in the GP and all our soldiers evacuated all Zama Zama to the site. About 840 Zama Zama were arrested and deported to Boksburg, Dobsonville, Kagiso, Kutsong, ( And) I am proud that almost 2,000 miners have been removed from our region, such as Krugersdorp.”
However, SOPA in Gauteng provincial parliament got off to a chaotic start as members of the public tried to storm the hall where parliament was sitting.
EFF members also delayed the proceedings before the Prime Minister began his speech and demanded the removal of crime watchers stationed at the venue.
“We are not going to be intimidated by Ama Panyapanya or Prime Minister Lesufi’s military battalion. They are not members of this house and we are not going to participate. They are going to go out into the community and commit crimes as they are deployed. “What are they doing here? There is no one in this house who will try to save Prime Minister Lesufi, not even green beans,” says Edwin Mukweho of the EFF. .
Gauteng provincial parliament speaker Ntombi Mekwe said the cause of the disruption that led to the interruption and delay of the State of the State address would be investigated.
Parliament Speaker Ntombi Mekwe said a thorough investigation was needed.
“Sure, I look around and there's no one. What do I do? I'm not saying they weren't here, just listen. If you understand English, I don't meet people now. “But we will investigate who those people are and deal with the issue. May we allow the Prime Minister to deal with this speech?”
Mr. Lesufi was then allowed to deliver his State of the State address.
