Google's Nest Aware camera subscription price is increasing again. From the report: This time it is for overseas users. There's no big announcement, just a few screenshots of emails from different countries on the Nest subreddit. 9to5Google has helped us find tons of announcements. Nest Aware is a monthly subscription fee for Google's Nest cameras. Nest cameras store all videos exclusively in the cloud, so you won't be able to record videos 24/7 without a subscription.
There are two sets of subscriptions you need to track. A current generation subscription for the latest cameras and a “1st generation Nest Aware” subscription for older cameras. To explain what we're dealing with, in the US, the current free tier only allows him to watch 3 hours of “event” video, i.e. video triggered by motion detection. Even the basic $8/month subscription doesn't give you 24/7 recording. Still, the event video is only 30 days worth. A $15/month Nest Aware Plus subscription in the US includes 10 days, 24/7 video recording. The “1st generation” Nest Aware subscription is tied to the previous camera and is no longer available to new customers, but the price has doubled in Canada. The base tier with 5 days of 24/7 video will run an annual fee of CAD 50 to CAD 110 (first generation subsystems have 24/7 video on all tiers). A 10-day video will go from CAD 80 to CAD 160, and a 30-day video will go from CAD 110 to CAD 220. These prices are for one camera. First-generation subscriptions cost extra for additional cameras. Current Nest Aware subscriptions for the latest cameras are increasing in price similar to the US, with mid-tier Nest Aware Plus going from CAD 16 to CAD 20 per month, and likely similar price increases across the board. .
