MATTHEWS, N.C. — A former Charlotte Mecklenburg School student and Matthews resident has a supporting role in an acclaimed Apple TV miniseries.

Branden Cook stars as Ensign Alexander Jefferson in Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg's Masters of the Air. The story follows the 100th Bomb Group during World War II.
“Master of the Air,” based on the 2007 book, premiered on Jan. 26, with episodes released every Friday until March 15.
Cooke's character, Jefferson, is a U.S. Air Force officer who served as a member of the Tuskegee Airmen of the 332nd Fighter Group during World War II.

Mr. Cook attended Butler High School and Crestdale Middle School. He went on to Wake Forest University to study theater and then enrolled at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts.
