Maibwe Mandela's apology
In a lengthy letter of apology, Maibuye acknowledged that he had been disrespectful, particularly by calling Minister Gigi Kodwa a “boy.”
He said his intention in appearing on the podcast was to raise funds for Mandela House and preserve his family's legacy.
“It was never my intention to disparage or belittle Minister Gigi Kodwa or anyone else. I recognize the importance of respectful dialogue, especially when discussing public figures and leaders. I understand gender. Calling a man “boy” is not only rude, it perpetuates harmful stereotypes and undermines personal dignity.
“I take full responsibility for my words and the effect they may have had on Minister Gigi Kodwa and the creepy people. I deeply regret any offense or hurt caused by my words. I think so,” he said.
