Notorious criminal Thabo Bester and his girlfriend, doctor Nandifa Magdumana, appeared in court for the first time this year. The lovers were arrested while on the run together in Tanzania in April last year.

1. Dr. Nandipha Magdumana arrived in court this morning from Visa Makate Correctional Center in Kroonstad. Thabo Bester, on the other hand, is from the C-Max section of Kgosi Mampuru Correctional Center in Pretoria. Unlike past court agreements between the couple, this time Magdumana ignored Bester's presence and walked past him, and the other accomplice didn't make eye contact when they arrived at the docks.
According to 2. Tsusa LIVEafter a lengthy bail application, Bester, Magdumana and Zanda Moyo remained in custody, while the remaining defendants were granted bail set at R10,000 each.
3. Mr Bester's lawyer is also said to have raised issues with the meals being provided to his client, who is diabetic and takes regular medication.

Thabo Bester, Dr Nandipha Magdumana and her father, and six other co-accused, are scheduled to appear in court again on June 5.
They all face numerous charges including defeating the cause of justice, fraud, corruption, violating a corpse, aiding and abetting, and more. This is because it relates to Bester's brazen escape from Mangan Correctional Center in May 2022.
