Vodacom on Friday announced increases to postpaid contracts and home internet packages.
Vodacom announced price increases for customers on postpaid contracts on Friday afternoon, due to come into effect on April 1.
The company announced that it will increase subscriptions for postpaid contract customers by 8% for RED integrated plans and 7% for RED VIP plans.
Assuming no changes to mobile phone financing or value-added services, customers' total bills will increase by “4.6% on average across the board.”
This is slightly higher than the 4.3% average increase in postpaid contract prices announced by MTN in December. The increase in postpaid contact fees on the MTN network came into effect in February.

“2024 is moving forward, which means it's time to recalibrate our prices in line with inflation and the inevitable increase in operating costs that impact every industry. Rest assured, we keep our prices as low as possible while delivering quality.'' Vodacom statement.
To soften the blow for customers, Vodacom has increased the amount of data provided in its contracts.

Vodacom has also announced price increases for its home internet packages, which will also increase by 8% from 1 April.
Vodacom announced in its latest earnings report that the company has surpassed the 200 million customer mark and that its third-quarter revenue rose by more than a quarter thanks to the acquisition of Vodafone Egypt.
South Africa's services revenue growth was more modest at 1.9%.
