According to media reports, police said Aka and a friend were targeted outside a Durban nightclub and both were shot dead by gunmen as they made their way to their car. Police added that the rapper and his friend died on the spot, while Aka sustained six gunshot wounds.
The rapper's new music album is scheduled to be released on February 27th. Rapper Aka has won several South African music awards and has been nominated several times for the American Black Entertainment Television Awards (BET).
