A Johannesburg doctor was hijacked and robbed of his belongings while driving on the N3 motorway near Voslooros on Saturday night.
He was driving on National Highway 3 from Newcastle to Johannesburg when he was stopped by five men driving a white double taxi with blue lights. Three of them were wearing police uniforms.
Police spokeswoman Lt. Col. Mabela Masondo said the suspects took the doctor to a cornfield, where they robbed him of his Mercedes-Benz car, as well as jewelry, medical equipment and an undisclosed amount of cash.
Two men detained him while others went to an ATM to withdraw money from his account.
Masondo added that the doctor was left stranded in a cornfield, but a passing car helped him walk to the main road, where he helped call police.

Meanwhile, the suspects hijacked a family on the same road and imprisoned them. One of the victims, the driver, was stabbed.
Then the family was found.
“A case of car hijacking, kidnapping and armed robbery has been opened for investigation. Police are searching for the suspects,” Masondo added.
