Paramount Global, The US broadcaster has signed a deal with South Africa's MultiChoice Group to bring its Paramount+ streaming service to the local pay-TV operator's platform.
Content can be accessed through the Showmax and DStv apps.
“This agreement is part of Paramount's strategy to expand the Paramount+ brand in more ways around the world, including through bundle partnerships in key markets and through branded destinations in local markets. “The licensing agreement also includes making it available as a direct-to-consumer streaming service through Amazon.com,” Paramount Global said in a statement Monday.
Paramount Global has implemented a “Brand Destination” strategy in many markets, including Greece through Cosmote, Belgium through Streamz, and the Philippines through Blast TV.
The partnership will be managed through a licensing agreement between the operators and, in the case of MultiChoice, Paramount+ content will be accessible via the DStv and Showmax apps as branded, clickable icons.
According to Paramount Global, the deal will give African viewers access to new and rerun television series and feature films, including: Yellowstone, 1883, 1923, Special Forces: Lioness and Survivor. CBS, Paramount+ Originals, Showtime, and Paramount Pictures will all be available to watch on the platform.
