First-team coach Eric Ramsey has left Manchester United to join Minnesota United, becoming the youngest head coach in Major League Soccer.
The 32-year-old Welshman joined Manchester United in 2021 as a coach under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
He has also worked as an assistant coach for the Wales men's team.
“I'm very excited to be joining a club with such a strong football culture, passionate fan base and great infrastructure,” Ramsay said.
“I have spoken to many members of the club's staff throughout this process and can't help but feel everyone's passion to move the club forward.”
Ramsey, who became the youngest British manager to earn a UEFA professional license in 2019, will leave his role at Old Trafford after Sunday's Premier League derby against Manchester City.
“We would like to thank Eric for his contribution and wish him the best of luck in his first head coaching position in the United States,” United said in a statement.
Ramsey will replace Cameron Knowles, the interim manager at the University of Minnesota, who has been without a permanent coach since parting ways with Adrian Heath in October.
The club opened the MLS season with a 2-1 win against Austin FC on Sunday.
“After an extensive search that included dozens of outstanding domestic and international candidates, we believe Eric Ramsey is the best choice to lead our club,” Minnesota Chief Soccer Officer Khalid El Ahmad said in a statement. I am confident.”
“His experience working with top-level players, coaches and sporting staff at both club and international level, and the alignment of playing styles and development philosophies, all align with the vision we have for the future of MNUFC. I am.”
