Celtic 7-1 Dundee: Celtic beat Dundee in first half blitz

Celtic defeated Dundee with a strong first-half performance, but they remain just two points behind Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

Celtic eased up a bit after the break, but substitute Daniel Kelly, 18, added to the scoreline with his first senior goal, before Michael Michael Kelly saved the away side after Finlay Robertson was sent off. Mellon scored the tying goal late in the game.

Celtic looked set to retake the top spot when Kilmarnock led Rangers at the interval, but the Ibrox side came from behind to win 2-1 at Rugby Park, leaving Rodgers' side in second place and ahead of Dundee. remained in 6th place.

Celtic's first-half performance against Motherwell on Sunday was well below the level Rodgers expected, but here they came out of the blocks in devastating fashion.

Things got even worse for the visitors when Taylor ghosted into the box to make it five points, and when Curtis Main's goal was ruled out by VAR for offside, things couldn't get any worse for Dundee. It seemed to me.

Still, McGregor scored a left-footed shot to make it six points before the break. It was the biggest half-time lead in the Scottish top flight for at least 20 years.

The big lead allowed Rodgers to make multiple substitutions, and one of those substitutes had a memorable moment when 18-year-old Kelly scored his first goal from the edge of the box into the top corner. Ta.

Robertson was sent off for a second offence, and although Dundee got on the scoresheet through Mellon, it was a night to forget for Tony Docherty's side, who finished with just one point from the top six.
