Gayton McKenzie shared his doubts about how he believed Jocelyn Smith's mother and stepfather passed a polygraph or lie detector test despite allegedly being under the influence of drugs.
The Patriotic Alliance leader previously revealed that the couple had received high scores on a test that he moderated. He has since argued that the results should be considered inconclusive.
The politician is actively involved in the search for the seven-year-old who went missing on Monday, February 19th.
Gayton Questions Lie Detector Test Results
Earlier this week, Gayton questioned Jocelyn Smith's mother, Kelly, and her partner, Jackin Appolis, about possible drug use. She confessed that Kelly had been using Tic (meth) before Jocelyn disappeared.
According to Kelly, she and her partner have been “clean” since Jocelyn went missing.
Kelly and Jackin have faced criticism from the Saldanha Bay community over speculation that they may be involved in Jocelyn's disappearance. They also claimed that their lives were in danger and they were forced to go into hiding.
But on Wednesday, Gayton revealed that the couple had passed polygraph tests.
The next day, the outspoken public figure shared his concerns with his followers. This included news that the couple failed a drug test.
he said on Facebook Live. [Kelly] You say it was clean for 7 days, but I personally doubt it. Because when it gets clean, it gets cold. Breaking up with Tik is not easy.
“She was perfectly fine, so you can tell it wasn’t the actions of someone who was off the tick.
He continued: “I mention this because if you take a lie detector test while you're high on drugs, your pulse or heart rate won't be correct, which will confuse the system. Lie Detector I don't think instrument tests should be conclusive. Polygraph tests and drug tests do not mix.
Addressing Kelly, he added: “If you're innocent, you'll take a drug test because you have nothing to hide.”
Mr Gayton said he would call on the couple to take a drug test and then take an independent lie detector re-test.
