There is no doubt that a video of a person believed to be American rapper Eminem calling out the African National Congress (ANC) and urging South Africans to vote for the Economic Freedom Fighters is causing a stir online.
Did Eminem call on South Africans to vote for the EFF?
In this clip, an artificial intelligence (AI) version of popular rapper Eminem (real name Marshall Bruce Mathers III) can be heard urging South Africans to vote for the party wearing the red bullet in the next election. .
This comes after the party fired at the ANC for “ruining” the country.
Although the man in the clip appeared to be Eminem, several die-hard fans took to the comments section to support Eminem and warn other social media users about the AI video.
The date for the 2024 general and local elections has been set for May 29th. This year's elections coincide with celebrations of South Africa's 30th anniversary of freedom and democracy.
Through a statement shared on the SA government website, President Cyril Ramaphosa called on South Africans eligible to vote to fully participate in this important and historic milestone.
“I call on all South Africans to exercise their democratic right to vote and for those campaigning to do so peacefully and in full compliance with the law. We urge unregistered voters to register using our online registration platform,” President Ramaphosa was quoted as saying.
