DJ Black Coffee, real name Nkosinathi Innocent Maphumulo, has finally opened up about the plane crash that happened in early January.
South Africans were left shocked and horrified as prayers were asked for for the South African star, who is being treated in hospital.
A few weeks later, DJ was released from the hospital and recovered at home.
In an interview with Kaya FM's Thabo 'Tbose' Mokwele, the DJ said he saw his life flash before his eyes.
DJ said he felt uneasy because the plane looked old.
Black Coffee also revealed that he was praying and listening to a gospel album when the accident occurred.
“It wasn't fast. That was the most painful thing about this incident… and I woke up in the hospital. It happened for maybe a minute, but during that time I had time to think. While the incident was happening, I… “I had time to pray. I had time to hope it wouldn't end like this,” the DJ said.
“We were doing a show in Brazil and we were flying to Argentina. We were on a bigger plane for this tour, but this was the last leg and we were flying private.
“The plane looked old, so I took a picture of the floor. It looked like no one was using it. It made me feel uneasy.”
“When I woke up after a nap, it felt like a dream or a nightmare, and the plane was shaking violently. When I opened my eyes, everyone was trying their best to hold on.
“I felt like I was in a moving car because I was sleeping, but I was moving so hard. I fell to the floor and my headphones were still there. And the gospel song was still playing. It was like a dream because “Hallelujah” kept repeating and I thought, “What is going on here?” And it was looping. The song kept getting louder and louder, and it felt like a choir or an angel was singing to save me,” Black Coffee said.
After the plane landed, he was attended to by medical personnel and scheduled for surgery.
“I landed, was taken in an ambulance, and was scheduled for a five-hour surgery the next day because my upper spinal cord was damaged and they needed a metal implant. Now I'm half human, half machine.” he joked
