“It was a fleeting moment, so I had time to think while it was happening. I had time to think while it was happening.
“There were times when I wished it would be over, and there were times when I thought, 'Okay, I'm going to die, it's over.' It all happened, and I saw it happen.”
He recalled that the incident occurred during his annual tour of South America, and said the company operating his private flights in the region did not have a plane in its fleet for him to use. Ta.
DJ had to find another airline.
The second airline only offered smaller planes, so he took it, but said he didn't feel comfortable using it.
“I remember saying, 'That looks old.' I also took pictures of the floor and rugs. I was just nervous!”
Black Coffee added that once the plane reached cruising altitude, he unbuckled his seatbelt, reclined his seat and took a nap.
“I was taking a nap while listening to a gospel album in my headphones, and then I woke up in a dream-like, nightmare-like feeling and the plane was shaking violently.
“When I opened my eyes, everyone was trying to hold on. At first, I was asleep, so it felt like I was in a car going around.”

Mr. Black Coffee was thrown to the floor by the turbulence and managed to get back into his seat, but at that moment the plane tilted sharply and DJ was thrown into the ceiling of the plane.
He briefly lost consciousness, but returned shortly afterwards to see various items, including water glasses and glasses, strewn around him after the commotion.
DJ said he felt a sharp pain in his back and had trouble sitting up after noticing the pain.
He insisted on an immediate landing and said the pilots initially opposed his decision because they wanted to continue the flight and land in Argentina.
They settled on landing in Uruguay, where he underwent a five-hour surgery to repair damage sustained to his upper spinal cord during the incident.
“So right now I have metal pinned down to my spinal cord. I'm half human, half machine,” he joked to lighten the mood.
He spent a week in the hospital recovering, and after being discharged, his sister and a friend flew out to accompany him home.
Black Coffee said it felt like he had been given a second chance and it led him to reevaluate his relationship with God.

“There are a lot of things that come to mind later. It’s not that I want to try it, but [the] I'm getting married again, but it could have been a lot easier if I just understood it. I could have spent more time on that.”
Black Coffee admitted that she has taken time to see what she did wrong, adding that she has worked to forgive herself for the role she played in the end of her marriage.
