Deir El Bala, Gaza – In the early hours of Saturday, Israeli military aircraft bombed a mosque next to makeshift tents housing displaced people in the central Gaza Strip city of Deir Bala.
The bombing killed a young woman and injured 20 others. They were transferred to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in the city.
Wala Saada, a 33-year-old woman, was known for her community service and humanitarian work during the war. She was killed as she slept in a tent next to her mother, Yosra Abu Saada, who was injured in the attack.
“My daughter Walla and I had dinner together before going to bed,” Yosra told Al Jazeera. “Waller was awake and on his laptop making a list of evacuees in need.”
Suddenly, Yosra woke up to the sound of a pile of stones from a bomb falling on her, surrounded by dust, and her tent collapsing on top of her.
“I had no idea what was going on around me. I thought I was dreaming, but I held myself back and started calling my daughter Wallah, but she didn’t answer. did.”
“People and emergency workers rushed to our aid. I kept desperately calling for Walaa until I saw his lifeless body lying on the ground covered in my own blood.” Yosra spoke while crying.
Mahmoud Saadeh, 60, and his family were sleeping in a nearby tent when the explosion hurled them to the ground.
“I woke up and realized I was far away.” [from our tent] with my family. Everyone was screaming, the children were screaming,” Mahmoud said. “The tent was completely flattened by the debris from the mosque.”
Mahmoud suffered severe chest injuries, and hospital treatment was limited due to a lack of supplies and resources. “Medical staff were overwhelmed. Some nurses were willing to take care of us with what little money they had. But we were running out of resources, so we withdrew. ”
“As you can see, our tent was completely burnt down and we lost all the belongings we had when we fled from one area to another. Now we don't know where we are going.”
The refugees in Deir El Bala are coming from all over Gaza, having been forced to flee following Israeli attacks.
The Gaza Health Ministry reports that more than 30,000 people have been killed in Israel's war in Gaza, and international condemnation of Israel's targeting of civilian areas has grown as the war drags on.
