Global Start-up Awards Africa (GSA Africa) 2024 is now accepting entries and invites African innovators, start-ups and ecosystem enablers who are dedicated to solving important global challenges to submit entries.
Now in its 11th year, GSA Africa is touted as one of the largest independent startup ecosystem competitions on the African continent. This is the Global Innovation Initiative Group (GIIG) Africa Fund’s vehicle to fund and scale Africa’s most innovative startups with solutions that align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
According to the statement, GSA Africa 2024 was made possible through a strategic partnership between GIIG, the Ethiopian Ministry of Labor and Skills, the Ministry of Innovation and Technology, and the Institute of Entrepreneurship and Development.

Ethiopia is the host country for the final African tournament in October.
Categories for 2024, aligned with the SDGs, include green technology, health technology, mobility and logistics, agricultural technology, financial technology, and women in technology. This year, we also debuted the Youth Startup Her category, which focuses on startups led by visionary founders under the age of 26.
“GSA Africa is more than just a competition. It champions African entrepreneurship and provides global visibility and potential investment opportunities through the GIIG Africa Fund,” commented Joe Griffiths, co-founder of GIIG. do.

The competition will have four phases, with winners going through national and regional levels before convening at the GSA Africa Summit in Addis Ababa.
According to GSA Africa, the summit will provide a platform for innovators to connect, celebrate and promote Africa's most innovative minds with ambassadors, international investors, business leaders and key government officials. .
Winners will receive exclusive access to the GSA Alumni Network, providing networking opportunities, mentorship, and connections with local and global stakeholders.
Each category has general and specific criteria that applicants must meet in order to pass the contest framework. Applicants are encouraged to review category requirements.
