Tottenham Hotspur Supporters Trust said it was “deeply disappointed” to see a 6% increase in season ticket prices for the 2024-25 season.
The Spurs also plan to eliminate benefits for new senior season ticket holders (65 and older) starting in 2025-2026.
This means the most affordable adult season ticket will cost £856, up from this season's price of £807.
The trust said the increase was “unacceptable” and “unjustified”.
Tottenham said the increase in season ticket prices was due to a “significant increase in match day costs”, with price increases of only 1.5% over the past five years.
Tottenham said on Thursday: “Football is not immune to rising costs of goods and services across the board and we continue to consider all options to minimize increases in ticket prices while absorbing the majority of costs. I'll go,'' he said.
in Statement issued on Thursday Responding to the changes, THST said “neither rationale holds water” and that the senior season ticket reform “pulls the rug out from under pensioners' feet after years of loyal support”.
The club said the number of senior season tickets purchased at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium had increased by almost four times that at its previous home, White Hart Lane, and that this increase was “not sustainable”. .
Under the reform, senior season ticket discounts will remain the same in 2024-25, but senior supporters who wish to purchase season tickets in 2025-26 will no longer receive the benefits.
Existing season ticket holders who qualify for discounted season tickets in 2025-2026 will have their discounts begin and receive a 5% discount per season for five years thereafter.
That means senior season ticket prices will be 25% higher in 2029-2030 than they are now.
THST board members met with the club on February 21 to discuss ticket sales, with trust directors saying they “disagreed on a number of points and changes have been made as a result of their comments”. Ta.
“THST believes that a fuller discussion with clubs at the beginning of this process would have resulted in more effective input and increased the likelihood of an outcome with wider support.” added.
Contacted by BBC Sport, Spurs said they had no further comment.
“Unfortunate” but “not unreasonable” – What you said
Ernie: I've been a season ticket holder for 41 years and I'm turning 65 in June, so I'm about to benefit from the senior discount, but part of the announcement also states that the price discount will be reduced from age 50 over the next five years. It includes the fact that % to 25%. The club blames the increase in the number of elderly people, but says it only applies to certain areas. Unhappy!
Andrew: There was no price increase for season ticket holders last year, so I guess they knew there was going to be a price increase. Personally, what concerns me most is that seniors' interests continue to decline. As I retire in 2022, I would like to continue supporting the club, but I admit that without the concession price I would not have been able to afford to renew.
David: As a 71-year-old lifelong Tottenham supporter and pensioner who is also a season ticket holder, this discount is the only way I can afford to buy a season ticket. My club's attitude towards pensioners is very disappointing. We have supported you throughout our lives. This discounted valuation was fair and necessary. Great OG Spurs think again.
Robin: Bearing in mind the explosive growth in general costs such as cost of living and business rates, it is not unreasonable that preferential treatment for over-65s should continue.
Neil: A 6% price increase is not unreasonable given the current rate of inflation and the fact that prices have barely increased since moving to the new stadium. The average increase in the cost of a season ticket is much less than the cost of a Spurs shirt. To attract players and coaching staff in a highly competitive world, clubs need to make money.
