Tyson said in a statement that he was looking forward to fighting an opponent 30 years his junior and claimed he had been impressed with Paul's performance during his fledgling boxing career.
Tyson said, “He's grown a lot as a boxer over the years, so it'll be a lot of fun to see how the 'kid's' will and ambition will impact the GOAT's experience and aptitude.”
Paul fought Tyson's last fight in Los Angeles in 2020, an eight-round exhibition undercard against former middleweight champion Roy Jones Jr.
Tyson quipped, “I started his boxing journey on the undercard of a fight with Roy Jones, and now I'm going to finish him off.”
