The loss to rivals Orlando Pirates was not only a blow to Kaizer Chiefs' players and coaches, but also to the club's upper management.
Amakhosi marketing director Jessica Motaung was in tears following the heartbreaking loss to the Buccaneers.
Despite the Chiefs taking the lead twice on the day, the Pirates managed to fight back and take an exhilarating 3-2 victory.
It took Glamor Boys just five minutes to take the lead thanks to quick movements from Phule Mmoudi and Ashley du Preez.
Monnapoule Saren equalized in the 23rd minute with a sweet shot from the edge of the box.
Du Preez then restored his team's lead just before half-time, scoring twice.
Thabiso Levitso then scored the equalizer in the 57th minute with a superb long-range shot. Watch his amazing finish below.
Jessica Motaung shed tears after Kaizer Chiefs defeat
“That's one of the club's goals (to return to Africa). It's been a while. If we can achieve this on Saturday, we'll be able to play more and ultimately be as high as we can in the league. ” Kaizer Chiefs coach Cabin Johnson said. IOL.
“I think there's still about 11 games left. So if we can get a positive result like we're hoping for tomorrow, we'll be in a good position going forward.
“Duba has been planning this for the last three years. He has been mentally preparing for the derby against Kaizer Chiefs. For me, the excitement when Wandile came in and scored the goal. It's not new, but it would be very new if he came in and scored in the Soweto derby.”
