Tottenham came from behind to beat Manchester City on penalties and advance to the semi-finals of the Women's FA Cup for the first time.
Amy James Turner converted the winning penalty and goalkeeper Rebecca Spencer saved two of City's spot kicks as Spurs won the shootout 4-3.
City took the lead in the sixth minute at Brisbane Road with a controlled performance from Mary Fowler, with the Australian forward collecting Khadijah Shaw's pass and deflecting a shot past Spencer.
Having taken an early lead, City were comfortable in the game, using clever passing to break through Tottenham's defense and look to extend their advantage.
But they were unable to do so and in the sixth minute of stoppage time Bethany England forced the game into extra time when some defensive confusion saw Kiara Keating fail a routine clearance and roll the ball into an empty net. was punished.
Spurs rallied with a last-minute equalizer and had a chance to win before penalties decided the winner, sealing Tottenham's historic place in the last four.
City's defeat was made worse when Women's Super League top scorer Shaw was forced off in the second half with an apparent shoulder injury, forcing a forced substitution.
Newcomers Tottenham, who are in the final four, will join Chelsea, Manchester United and Leicester in the semi-final draw. The draw will take place on Tuesday at around 8.20am Japan time during BBC Radio 5's Live Breakfast.
Fallen urban architects
Manchester City failed to make the most of their possession of the ball and the fact that they took more shots than Spurs, and they paid the price.
Fowler looked like he was going to score another point immediately after his first goal, but his volley bounced off the ground and was caught by Spencer.
The other teams also struggled to find a second goal, with Shaw meeting Philippa Angeldahl's cross at the near post and firing the ball wide, giving City a narrow lead at half-time.
City remained firmly in the lead at the start of the second half and looked likely to score again when Shaw curled a painful header over the bar from Leila Ouabi's cross from six yards out.
The potential loss of Shaw, who has scored 15 goals in 14 league games this season, to injury could be a major blow to City's WSL title challenge.
They allowed Tottenham to equalize in the second half, but the miscommunication between Keating and Laia Alechandri, giving the ball completely free and allowing England to score, became the cause of their own undoing.
Spurs lacked the final product, City created few clear chances in extra time and neither team could avoid a penalty shootout.
England almost snatched victory when he met Spurs' floated cross inside the box and headed it home.
Tottenham's success meant City did not advance beyond the FA Cup quarter-finals for the first time in the club's history.
