The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) is responsible for issuing social grants in South Africa. This includes grants such as disability grants, child care and foster care grants, and veterans grants.
Have you ever been offered a social grant loan?
Government agencies warn that SASSA loans are a scam. Social grant loans do not exist, and those who claim they do are trying to scam you.
Here is important information.
SASSA: No loans or credits
The Social Grants Agency emphasized that it does not provide loans.
SASSA exists solely for the purpose of disbursing subsidies and is supervised by the Ministry of Social Development.
All advertised SASSA loans are scams.
The loan shark will try to take away your social grant by claiming it is a social grant loan. You should avoid going to illegal lenders as they use illegal methods.
SASSA loans: It's a scam!
All social grant “loans” are fraudulent, state agencies say.
Advertisements offering “subsidized loans” will only lead to illegal lenders. These are not genuine funding agency advertisements, even those seen on social media and the internet.
If you find an advertisement for “subsidy”, please report it.
Yes, they are illegal! Loaners take advantage of people in need where real help exists.
You cannot get a social grant 'loan' in South Africa.
Check legal lenders: NCR
The National Credit Regulator allows visitors to check loan companies against a national database. Don't know your loan company? Please check the NCR page.
Legal lenders must have a registration number. This number must match your database. If not, the information in the database is fake.
Please be sure to check before applying for financing.
Sassa: Please contact me
For questions regarding social grants, please contact the grant issuing agency. Apply for a subsidy at your nearest local subsidy office. It is your right to apply.
Please email GrantsEnquiries@sassa.gov.za.
The query retrieves the reference number.
