Jesse Kriel revealed on March 11th who he thinks will be in the Springbok rock band.
The talented star has been part of the Springbok squad since winning the 2019 World Cup. Over the years, the Springboks have built a tradition of song and dance that has inspired fans.
Outside of rugby, some players like Makazole Mapimpi and Siya Kolisi showed their love for dancing and singing. A few months ago, Makazor shocked her fans by singing a gospel song with vocals.
Some of his fans suggested that he take up a career in music once he finished playing rugby. Conversely, Trevor Nyakane and Bongi Mbonambi showed off some impressive dance moves that became a trend after their World Cup win.
With character like this, Jesse Kriel didn't take long to choose the players he thought would make up his dream Springbok band. Superport shared an interview video on Instagram where Jesse picks and explains his choices.
“What will this @bokrugby band be called? 😂 Did @jessekriel15 make the right choice? 🎸🥁,” he said.
Who formed Jesse Kriel's dream Springbok band?
Jesse Kriel started with the leaders of the division in his quest to form his dream Springbok band. He started by appointing Trevor Nyakane as head of all dance and entertainment.
As for singing, he chose Makazole Mapimpi, which confirmed what his fans were saying when he sang the gospel song in his car. He chose Kobus Reinach as drum leader, stating that he could be anywhere and fit well on drums.
He selected Eben Ezebeth for lead guitar and then Willie Le Roux as band manager. Jesse chose Siya Kolisi for public relations and content creation, but was not satisfied with his role.
In the end he gave himself the role of a van driver.
What did the Springboks say?
After Jesse Kriel outlined his dream Springbok band, some of his teammates had different reactions to their roles. Among them were Trevor Nyakane, who was happy with his role, and Siya Kolisi, who looked a little disappointed.
“@jessekriel15, hahaha, you should know it's going to be lit. I mean, the moves are going to be on fire. Should we start getting some moves together? 🔥🕺🏽,” Trevor said.
The Springbok captain had other ideas for several players who were skipped, such as Damian de Allende and Marco van Staden.
@jessekriel15 I’m not even backing up my bra singer 😂 But I’ll handle the media,” Siya Kolisi began.
“I think @jessekriel15 @marco.vanstaden.95 should definitely be the driver 😂😂. @damiandeallende has to show up somewhere too. I don't know if @ebenetzebeth4 can play guitar with his arm. Hmm 💪🏾😂” he kept thinking.
