Ten children were among those injured in a missile attack on an apartment complex as rescue teams searched for survivors.
Russian missiles hit two apartment blocks in central Ukraine's Kryvyi Rih, killing three people and injuring at least 38, with rescue teams sifting through the rubble and searching for survivors overnight.
Dnipropetrovsk Governor Serhiy Raisak announced the provisional number of injured in Tuesday's attack at 28 adults and 10 children.
“Two buildings were damaged, one with five floors and one with nine floors,” Lysak wrote on Telegram.
“The number of injured continues to rise, as does the number of injured children.”
Video from the scene showed a fire on the roof of an apartment building and rescuers carrying injured people out of the entrance of the shattered building.
“Emergency services and care workers are rescuing residents trapped in apartments and continuing to search for people who may be under the rubble,” Interior Minister Ihor Klimenko wrote.
“Four people have already been rescued.”
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, who was born and raised in Kryvyi Ri, said on Telegram that search operations “will continue as long as necessary.”
In his evening speech, he said: “We will inflict damage on the Russian state in response – quite rightly. Those in the Kremlin must learn that terrorism does not go unpunished for them.”
The city of Kyvi Rif was often targeted by Russian forces during the conflict.
