Over the years, soccer stars, especially local soccer stars, have developed a reputation for being lovers of groove culture and splurging on lavish lifestyles.
This was the downfall for many soccer stars who spent all their money without considering investments.
A few months ago, news that former Bafana Bafana and Mamelodi Sundowns striker Katlego Mphela had secured a 9-to-5 job as a car salesman in Johannesburg took the internet by storm.
And now, another football star, Tiyani Mabunda, has retired, but instead of selling cars he preaches the word of God.
Former Sundowns footballer Tiyani is now a pastor
South African footballers have a rich history of squandering their wealth after they stop playing.
Many of them are turning to “normal” ways to make a living, but unfortunately some are struggling to make ends meet.
Earlier this year, many were surprised to learn that former Bafana Bafana and Mamelodi Sundowns star Kamo “Killer” Mphela is now a car salesman.
But things took a turn for the worse for former Mamelodi Sundowns and TS Galaxy midfielder Khayerele Shoji, who ended up living on the streets.
But all is not lost for all soccer stars.
Players like Teko Modise, Siphiwe Tshabalala and Jabu Mahlangu are all doing pretty well in their own right.
and now simple news It is reported that former Sundowns player Tiyani Mabunda is the pastor.
The 36-year-old is reportedly preaching to the congregation of Shepherd Bushiri Church in Pretoria.
A video of him spreading the gospel was shared online. See below.

While many wonder why so many footballers have such poor financial management skills, others think Tiyani's decision to become a pastor was not a bad one.
In fact, many of his former soccer fans credit him with turning to God and helping others do the same.
Many also pointed out that he had always been a strong follower of God.
“Before he was winning matches, now he's winning souls,” one person commented, while another said:
“I look up to him in life after football. Some people are crybabies, some people want to be a coach, but he took a different path. God bless him.”
However, some questioned why he chose Bushiri's controversial church to lead.
“Bushiri is using him to launder South African money,” one person wrote.
