Miss SA fans are wondering why Brioni Govender was chosen to represent the Miss Supranational pageant instead of fellow runner-up Nande Mabala.
Brioni, who is the first runner-up after winner Natasha Joubert, will represent South Africa in the Miss Universe pageant in December 2023, finishing in the top 20.
Nande hasn't been very noticeable since he started chirping last year.
Miss Supranational will be held on July 6th in Nowy Sak, Poland.
Governor Brioni becomes representative of Miss Suplanation
In a statement on Thursday, April 11, Miss SA organizers announced that Brioni Govender will be representing the Miss Supranational pageant in July.
Brioni said in a post on Instagram: It reminds us that some doors close, while others open wide and allow us to step into new experiences.
“This opportunity to represent South Africa is not just a personal milestone, but also a platform to advocate for causes close to my heart on the international stage.
The dark-haired beauty, who is a qualified lawyer, added that she had been preparing “mentally and physically” for the contest.
She continued, “These preparations included intense training sessions to improve my physical fitness, catwalk, poise, and stage presence. I also worked with top trainers to improve my communication skills. I have improved my skills and developed a strong and influential voice. I have always said that the most important thing for me when preparing for any competition is to have a positive, healthy mindset and to do what I need. “It's all about making every effort,” she said.
Brioni believes that her experience in the Miss Universe pageant will help her prepare for the Miss Supranational competition.
She added: “Whether we win the laurels or not, I will continue to make South Africa proud. Dreams come true, lessons are learned and the magic of representing our country on the world stage is here. .”
Nande Mabala reacts to the news
Meanwhile, South Africans, especially Miss SA fans, are wondering why fellow runner-up Nande Mabala was not an option for Miss Supranational.
“She should have been a queen,” one Instagram follower wrote, tagging Nande in the comment section. Another added: What happened to Nande? ” A third added: “Miss SA should stop being 2nd place because it just seems to be giving her false hope.”
Nevertheless, Nande wished Brioni Govender good luck.
She posted in the comments section: “This is what I want to see. It's going to raise and solidify the SA on that stage. Also, one of the things you do is kill the photo shoot.”
Bryoni thanked Nande for her kind comments and replied, “I appreciate your continued support.''
Why Natacha Joubert can't compete
Meanwhile, South Africans are also wondering why Brioni is not representing Mzansi at Miss Supranational instead of Natasha Joubert, who won the Miss SA title.
In an interview with 947 magazine last year, Natasha stressed that she did not want to compete globally in her reign.
she said: “I will not go to the supernational. My goal on returning home was to serve the motherland.”
Furthermore, she added: “I meant it, I really meant it, to give another woman the opportunity to represent her. For me, Miss South Africa was always a goal. I wanted this job.”
Miss SA organizers say title holders or their runners-up can compete in both Miss Universe and Miss Supranational if their schedules allow.
