Gianluca Mancini's header gave Roma a 1-0 victory over AC Milan in the Europa League quarter-final first leg at San Siro.
The defender's goal from Paulo Dybala's corner kick in the 17th minute gave last year's runners-up the advantage heading into next week's second leg in Rome.
Olivier Giroud scored a late goal, but Milan could not find a way past Roma, whom they had defeated twice in Serie A.
Roma are aiming to reach the European final for the third consecutive year.
Daniele De Rossi's reign as Giallorossi manager began after a 3-1 defeat at Milan in January, following which Jose Mourinho was sacked, but since then Roma have lost just two games in all competitions. Not yet.
The winner of the clash between the Italians will face either West Ham or Bayer Leverkusen in the last four. Xabi Alonso's team won 2-0 after the first leg.
Roma won the Europa Conference League in the 2021-22 season, but lost to Sevilla in last year's Europa League final.
