New reports from France reveal Neymar's turbulent time at PSG, revealing how he clashed with team-mates and lost the respect of Kylian Mbappé.
Neymar spent six years with the French giants, securing a big-money move to Saudi Arabia's Al Hilal last summer, ending his spell at the Parc des Princes.
Some argue that the Brazil international did not live up to expectations during his time at PSG, but a shocking new report from L'Equipe has revealed why things did not go well for the 32-year-old.
According to the newspaper, there were a number of alarming events that led to Neymar's eventual departure.
They spoke to former PSG players and staff who claimed that “he would sometimes turn up to training drunk at the end of his adventures.”
Back in 2022, Neymar faced similar allegations after a French journalist claimed that Neymar “had barely trained anymore and arrived in a sorry state, almost drunk.”
The source also revealed an incident during Christophe Galtier's time at the club, during which Neymar was said to have clashed with one of his assistant coaches.
Immediately afterwards, during a session, Neymar violently punched youth player Ismael Gharbi and then “punched him in the head,” according to witnesses.
They said, “Neymar caught him and hit him on the head with a brush while he was on the ground.” Everyone was shocked. After all, he really wasn't nice. ”
The newspaper also claimed that Neymar was at the center of a fight between Lionel Messi, Achraf Hakimi and Sergio Ramos at the training ground.
The source told L'Equipe that Messi and Hakimi clashed but the Brazilian stood up to intervene and support his former Barcelona teammate.
Ramos was quick to defuse the situation, reportedly telling Neymar: “If you stand up, I'm the one coming.”
The source went on to explain how the relationship between Neymar and Kylian Mbappé, who were meant to lead PSG to European glory, ultimately soured.
“In the beginning, Kylian liked Neymar, but after working together every day, he lost respect for Neymar,'' a PSG official admitted.
“On the other hand, with Neymar [Lionel] Messi was upset to see that the club handed over the keys to the truck to Kylian. Even though Messi is an introvert, he said hello.
“Not Neymar. Him, you had the impression that he didn't respect you. He refused to contact you. It's a shame because in private he seems kind and generous.
“I never found him pleasant or warm. He understood French but made no effort to speak it.”
The source went on to claim that although the Brazilian was keen to play for the national team, he was “completely fed up” with domestic football.
Earlier this week, Neymar shocked social media users when he was caught on camera playing online poker at his daughter's celebration.
The Al Hilal superstar welcomed daughter Maeby with ex-partner Bruna Biancardi last year, and the pair recently celebrated her six-month birthday.
However, in a video currently going viral online, Neymar is seen not paying enough attention.
In fact, the 32-year-old has been spotted by astute observers playing online poker using his smartphone, and he admits he never gets tired of the game.
The video showed Neymar and Biancardi holding Maeby as she sat at a table, with the caption: “6 months of the most beautiful princess.”
Neymar held his daughter's hand, but quickly turned to his left, tapped on his phone screen and rejoined the celebration.
Ahead of his move from PSG to Saudi Arabia, the forward admitted that he plans to turn professional poker once he retires in the future.
He made this surprising revelation after taking on the role of PokerStars ambassador.
“It's true that I intend to turn professional,” Neymar said. I feel very comfortable playing poker and I think I can play in big tournaments even after my soccer career is over.
“I started playing during the 2014 World Cup and fell in love with the game.
“I play poker actively. My favorite hands are a pair of 10s and a jack-five, named after my jersey number.
“There are similarities between football and poker in how you read your game and your opponent and choose when to attack.
“I played a lot when I was at Barcelona, and I also play a lot at PSG.''
Neymar has not yet commented on the L'Equipe report.
