Down's Odran Murdoch and Antrim's Joseph Finnegan were shown yellows by referee Barry Cassidy after a pre-match parade ended in a nasty altercation.
“Well, to me it looked like the downs ran through the players,” Antrim coach McEntee said.
“We were inside. I don't think we did anything, our players stood their ground.
“What were you planning to do by getting out of the way and letting Down walk through us?”
“I saw a little bit of pushing and shoving, but the band was right in front of me so I couldn’t really see it, to be honest.
“There are rules for things like parades, but if one team tries to break through the other, it's definitely going to lead to trouble.”
After the first half, as both teams were making their way to the changing rooms, another altercation broke out, and in the aftermath, Brendan Murphy, a member of Antrim's backroom team, was given a red card.
“Brendan Murphy received a red card, but whoever was involved definitely wasn't Brendan,” McEntee said.
“I don't even know what happened. I was in the dressing room, but I know it wasn't him.”
Regarding the team's performance, McEntee said, “I expect dedication from the players, but I can't blame them.
“In the strong winds down in the second half (Antrim were leading 0-6 to 0-3) people would have given us little chance.
“The players put in some good shifts, but we have to be better in front of goal.”
