The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) is an important government agency. They are the agencies that issue social grants such as disability grants, elderly grants, and SRD grants.

SASSA: Significant Grant Form
If your social grant is refused, you must appeal within 30 days. In some cases, rejections may be made by mistake or due to system errors. Appeals must be made in writing and the appropriate form must be attached to the application.

If you wish to receive your grant payment in your bank account, you will also need a Bank Payment Agreement (download as PDF).
Disability grants require a Medical Assessment Referral Form (download as PDF).
SASSA: SRD Grant Check
SRD grants are targeted at unemployed people.
There is a useful online link to check if your grant has been approved. You can still apply online for the SRD Grant.
Recipients can verify using this link.
Please make sure to only use official links to apply. Government links always end with the prefix “gov.za” or “.gov”.
