Southampton have announced they have 'reluctantly agreed' to have director of football Jason Wilcox join Manchester United.
The two clubs have reached an agreement on an “acceptable fee” to complete the player's transfer.
The former Blackburn Rovers and England winger, 53, joined the Championship club last summer.
Wilcox will join United as technical director and the club said he would “work with all technical areas of the football department”.
He spent 11 years at Manchester City, where he was Academy Director before moving to the south coast side.
Southampton said in a statement: “The club is naturally disappointed that Jason's stay at Southampton lasted only nine months, but we wish him all the best for the future.”
“The club will continue to work closely with Russell Martin and his behind-the-scenes team to ensure they have the support they need going forward.”
Manchester United are also recruiting Dan Ashworth, Sporting Director of Newcastle United.
He was placed on gardening leave after telling the club he wanted to be part of Old Trafford.
Former Manchester City executive Omar Berrada said: Will join Manchester United as CEO In summer.
