Petaling Jaya: Nasi Lemak, a popular Malaysian dish, is featured in the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency's (CIA) World Factbook.
The CIA shared on its Facebook page on Saturday (April 20) that “Nasi Lemak is considered the national dish of Malaysia” and that the dish is “a popular Malay breakfast dish”.
“The name literally means 'fat rice' in Malay. This is because when you cook it, it becomes thick and creamy. A fragrant rice dish made with pandan leaves, lemongrass, ginger, and other spices cooked in coconut milk.
“Nasi lemak usually includes boiled eggs, fried anchovies, sambar Paste and roasted peanuts,” the post continued.

Since then, the Facebook post has received 3.9,000 likes, with many Facebook users amused that Nasi Lemak received special recognition.
“One of the admins was posted in Malaysia and must have fallen in love with nasi lemak,” joked user Naim Azzwal.
Other netizens also recommended other dishes that the CIA could add to World Facebook, such as nasi dagang and nasi kerabu.
According to the CIA, its World Factbook is “a public resource that provides basic information about 266 organizations around the world, including travel facts and country profiles.”
