The National Freedom Party (NFP) has announced that it has taken action against all senior party members for failing to properly manage the organization's financial books.
He accused certain people of bringing the party into disrepute.
The party admitted that the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) did not provide the party with necessary political funds because it did not submit proper audited financial statements.
The commission revealed in its annual report for the 2022/2023 financial year that the NFP was one of four political parties that did not receive funding.
“The NFP has acted accordingly and we have held those responsible accountable for their actions. But more than that, to ensure the smooth running of the party's finances in the future, the party has now hired a new service provider. We hired the services of a new auditing firm to audit our finances from the previous fiscal year 2023 to 2024, as we want to ensure that every cent we receive from IEC is accounted for. At this stage, we have to apologize not only to NFP members but also to the people of this country for the damage we have done to the party's reputation by not submitting it,” said NFP member Kanan Mdreshe.
