African National Congress (ANC) secretary-general Fikile Mbalula says he believes the ruling party can oust the Democratic Alliance (DA) from power in the Western Cape in the next election. He was campaigning in Worcester and Pearl of Boland.
Mbalula held public mass meetings and went door to door in some communities. This is to support the ANC's election campaign in the state.

The Western Cape is considered one of the major battlegrounds for the upcoming elections. Mr Mbalula said they were currently intensifying their campaign in the province. He is also confident that the ANC will defeat the DA in the elections and regain power in the Western Cape.
“The ANC is in a position to oust the DA from power and actually work for a full majority here. That is what we want. We have failed the ordinary people's expectations and all we are getting from them is that they know the ANC is not in power and are ready to give their all to vote on the 29th. That's why.
Candidates for the Western Cape premiership have not yet been announced.
“The ANC is not campaigning through the position of prime ministerial candidate. The face of the campaign is Cyril Ramaphosa. If we need to announce a prime ministerial candidate, we will do so as soon as possible. That's what matters. But we're not looking to the prime ministerial candidate, we're looking to the movement and wider sections of society that follow the ANC, and that's our objective here in the Western Cape. .”
The ANC is focusing on election activities and says it is not concerned about members joining other parties ahead of the election.
Residents of Zweletemba in Worcester say they hope to see positive changes in their community after the election.
“There is a lack of housing in Zweletemba and most of the young people are unemployed. Most people rely on short-term contracts where they only work for six months and after that there is no work, and most of their jobs are sweeping the streets. '' says a resident.
“Here in Zweletemba, we are struggling a lot because there are still places without electricity or running water. We have nothing. We are living on our own. They make their own plans to get water and electricity. Thousands, more than 10,000 people live in such conditions,” another resident added.
The ANC is expected to step up its election campaign in the Western Cape in the coming weeks.
