Former ANC deputy leader David Mabuza said the party would survive and persevere despite the formation of the MK party.
The MK party has stepped up its campaign in recent weeks, particularly in Kwa-Zulu-Natal and Gauteng.
Mr Mabuza is campaigning in Centurion, Tshwane ahead of the May 29 general election.
“We've been through this journey before. As I said, we went through the formation of COPE, which was quite frightening in my view. EFF, not so much. It's not scary. In my opinion, Mk, it's not that formidable. We will get through this crisis,” Mabuza says.

Meanwhile, the MK party is adamant that its members will descend on ANC headquarters in Johannesburg on Tuesday, despite the postponement of an ANC disciplinary committee hearing involving former president Jacob Zuma.
Speaking at a press conference in Johannesburg, ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula said the DC hearing had been postponed to an unspecified date due to security concerns.
Zuma is facing two charges within the ANC for allegedly violating the constitution.
This comes after he publicly supported the MK party and campaigned for the new party.
MK party spokesperson Nhlamulo Nderela said: You know, we're there by invitation. The ANC invited us, but they knew very well that wherever former president Jacob Zuma was, we would be there to support him. So for them to refer to a kind of provocation, the mere fact that they can demand the presence of a former president at Luthuli House for a kangaroo court DC before an election is ridiculous in itself. So they brought this on themselves, and our president, who is not a coward, is definitely right there. So that's where we're at. ”
