Britain's King Charles III marked the first anniversary of his coronation on Monday, after a difficult year that included a cancer diagnosis and tensions with his estranged son, Prince Harry.
Gun salutes were to be fired in central London and other locations across Britain to mark the occasion.
However, no official events were planned as the milestone comes less than a week after King Charles resumed royal duties following his diagnosis.
He visited fellow cancer patients at a London hospital on Tuesday after doctors said they were “very encouraged” by his progress.
The 75-year-old monarch has not revealed the type of cancer she has, but given the connection between her ascension to the throne and the death of her mother, Queen Elizabeth II, she has announced that she will be treating the disease with minimal “fuss.” It is said that he was eager to welcome the day.
Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury, who coronated King Charles at Westminster Abbey a year ago, praised his “sense of duty”.
“The King has faced significant personal challenges over the past year. However, I have been impressed by his continued sense of duty as he recently returned to royal duties after completing treatment,” he said.
“Sharing his condition openly is a hallmark of his willingness to help and support others,” he added.
This anniversary is marked by an Ipsos poll. daily mail King Charles' personal approval rating rose slightly to 56 percent.
The most popular members of the royal family are his son and heir, Prince William, and his wife, Duchess Kate, at 69% each, an increase of 8% to 10% from April last year.

The 42-year-old, also known as Kate, announced her shock cancer diagnosis in late March after undergoing abdominal surgery which had already forced her to withdraw from public life.
The double whammy of King Charles and Duchess Kate's poor health has left the royal family short of front-line royals, and Prince William has also taken some time off to look after his wife and family.
While Queen Camilla, 76, takes over many of her husband's engagements, King Charles' sister Princess Anne and his youngest brother Prince Edward are also taking on more important roles.
But King Charles and Duchess Kate's absence was felt even more acutely now that the King's second son, Prince Harry, is no longer an active member of the royal family.
Prince Harry made a dramatic move to North America with his wife Meghan Markle in 2020.
Prince Harry will return to the UK this week to attend a ceremony to mark the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games for disabled veterans.
The Pennsylvania state agency reported that he was “likely to be reunited with Charles” at some point during his visit.
Meanwhile, around 100 people took part in a demonstration organized by anti-monarchy group Republic on Sunday in Trafalgar Square.
Protesters chanted “abdicate, abdicate” and two large banners reading “Abolish the monarchy” and “Change the country for good” were hung in front of the museum.
Tens of thousands of people lined the streets of London for last year's coronation, and street parties were held across the United States.
Television footage of Westminster Abbey's historic ceremony was broadcast around the world.
