African Peoples Congress (APC) leader Themba Godi said his party will make history as the first to return to parliament after losing seats in the 2019 general elections. Godi was at Hope of Glory Global Church in Kwakwa.
He said he had spent the past five years expanding into different provinces and was standing for election in six provinces, including the Free State, Gauteng, North West and Mpumalanga.
“APC is registered for the contest in six provinces and for us Gauteng is a battleground and we are putting a lot of effort into Gauteng as the largest province in the country. In every state, our intention is to win, to ensure representation for the APC, and that's why I've been here since yesterday to solidify the ground for the APC and ensure the May 29th convention. The Free State is one of the states represented by APC.
Mr. Godi emphasized the need for clean governance, which is critical to the delivery of basic services. He said corruption makes it impossible to provide services to the people.
He said the party has a track record of clean governance, having served as chairman of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts (SCOPA) for more than a decade.
“First and foremost, it is to encourage people to go out and vote en masse because it is a civic responsibility. But secondly, to send them the fundamental message of the APC: that the service It is the government's first responsibility to ensure the provision of services, and to ensure a normal administration free of corruption and nepotism.Without good governance, services cannot be provided. .”
