The Democratic Alliance (DA) says it believes it has run a solid election campaign, and with eight days to go before South Africans choose their national and local leaders, the main opposition party is preparing to make its final appeal to the public.
The DA will hold its final election rally in Benoni, east of Johannesburg, on Sunday.
Matt Cuthbert, the party's policy director, rejected suggestions that the party's 'Save South Africa' campaign portrayed it as the country's sole savior.

“We understand that we cannot save this country as a single party alone, which is why we are part of a multiparty charter. It also details how the prosecutor's office should work with civil society and business groups to get the country on the right track. I don't think it's ever happened before. I think we've always understood that this is a complex challenge if we're going to govern this country, and I think it's important to get everyone on board. ' said Mr Cuthbert.
