Patriotic Alliance (DA) leader Gayton McKenzie remains hopeful his party will win more than 20 seats in parliament in next week's election.
Mr McKenzie stopped in Kimberley in the Northern Cape during his campaign tour and reassured supporters to remain optimistic about change.
He named the Northern Cape as one of three provinces where he expected overwhelming support.
Mr McKenzie was welcomed by PA supporters who turned out in large numbers to hear their leader.
The party is still gaining strength in the state but is hoping to secure more votes from the Coloured community.
“We expect to win around 25 seats in this election. We expect to be kingmakers in Gauteng and the Northern Cape. We want to win outright in the Western Cape,” says McKenzie.
Mr McKenzie added that the PA's policies were consistent with its supporters.
“Our party is the only one that says God should come back into our lives, that children should be taught about God in school. Our party is the only one that says we should mass deport all foreigners and bring back the death penalty.”
Last year, in two elections in the city of Sol Plaatje, considered a stronghold of the African National Congress (ANC), the PA won in wards held by the African National Congress (ANC).
