Woolworths has recalled four types of Country Road mugs because they “unexpectedly break” when hot liquids are poured into them.
The group said Bermuda, Sapphire, Dark Olive and Lilac versions of the Country Road Two Tone Dem Mug series would need to be returned to stores for a full refund.
“This is due to a manufacturing defect identified in certain mugs which, when poured with hot liquid, can cause the mug to break unexpectedly, causing the base to separate from the body of the mug.”
Woolworths said only four colour variations were affected and the rest of its DEMM range was safe to use.
The mugs retail for R199 each.
In February, Woolworths recalled its peanut butter ice cream brand due to potential health risks.
At the time, testing of Woolworth Peanut Butter Ice Cream brand found that the product contained higher than legal levels of naturally occurring aflatoxin, which is dangerous to humans.
